Do You Have a Claim?
Qualifying for Social Security Disability
There are specific criteria put forth by the Social Security Administration (SSA) which an individual must meet in order to be eligible for Social Security disability benefits. At Disability Actions Advocates we focus on just one thing – Social Security disability claims. When unfortunate circumstances leave you with a disability, you deserve the professional expertise of a dedicated law firm and the DAA team knows every aspect of disability law and how to get results.
Federal Programs to Assist Disabled
Social Security Disability
(SSDI)
This is a program funded by the Social Security tax fund. When you are
disabled and have gained sufficient past work credits, you may qualify.
This means an individual must have paid Social Security taxes on his or
her wages long enough to qualify for benefits. An individual with a fairly
continuous job history, who has worked a minimum of five of the previous
10 years before the onset of disability is in a good position to be awarded benefits.
Supplemental Security Income (SSI)
Supplemental Security Income, is funded through general tax revenues and not through Social Security
taxes. For this reason, there are no work requirements to qualify for
supplemental security income. This benefit was created to assist individuals
65 years and older, or who are legally blind or disabled with a low balance
of family assets.
